    Abit KG7-RAID is WEEEAAAAK!?
    By bigbludude September 27, 2001, 06:17 AM

Hey kids. I was just about to order my new KG7-R when I noticed that it will not support the processor I want to get (1.4GHz)... Is the description below accurate? I'd think that a board designed to support future chips would take something faster than 1.33...

    * Support AMD Athlon/Duron 700MHz ~ 1.33GHz or future Socket A Processors based on 200/266 MHz(100MHz/133MHz Double Data Rate)

    By ynd69 September 27, 2001, 06:31 AM

You have to update the bios first...the KG7-R is going to support Athlon XP as well.

    By scott September 27, 2001, 06:34 AM

It will work just fine, the 1.33 was the fastest TB out at the time they wrote that, more than likely.

Huh? 10.5x133=1.4 Should have those options already with that board. Especially with the SoftMenu, even a 1.4/200 would work just fine. Plenty of fsb/mult settings to get you to 1.4

Ah yah got me! I think it is time for me to go to sleep, good night.

I dont see anything listed on abits bios section stating that 1.4 support has been added.in my searchings on the kt7a-raid it states the 1.4 can only be used with processors with L 1 BRIDGES DISCONNECTED.
    obviously a voltage difference yes?
I would buy the 1.33 to be shure,or ask a reseller to send you a 1.4 cpu with the bridges disconnected,or wait for the new board.

    By slavik September 27, 2001, 08:07 AM

that's probably, because if you use a 200mhz tbird it's multiplier has to be 14, and some mobos may not support that mult. so if the proc is locked, the mobo can't change it.

WTH are you talking about. Can you link it cause your post makes no sense. Bridges disconnected The voltage is the same, same core. Like I said, it will support 1.4's. With the palominos a bios flash may be needed but with the current crop of processors the KG-7 will work at 1.4(10.5x133) or maybe higher if your oc'ing

I give up. You don't buy a 1.4, which by the way come unlocked, to run at 14x100 on that board. You just don't, sorry.

Now i see where your mistaken, were talking about the KG-7, not KT7A

I just install a KG7-raid and 1.4 GHZ cpu just fine. At the first the motherboard detect it as a 1050 cpu, but you can just use the user define function to correct that problem. Later on, I updated the motherboard's bois, and it detect the cpu just fine.

    By Philgag September 27, 2001, 10:42 AM

KG7 does support 1.4 and more

    By s1203372 September 27, 2001, 11:37 AM

It only shows 1.33 because that was the fastest CPU out when they shipped the board. That means they couldn't test w/ a 1.4, so they didn't claim it. The facilities are there for 1.4+.

    sorry my bad,shesh its been a long day,kt7 not kg7 shesh !
