For those of you expecting a continuation in the tradition started by its brethren, look elsewhere. For those you expecting a SF Rush killer, look elsewhere. Need For Speed III fails to deliver the realism demanded by racing purists nor does it satisfy the adrenal glands of gamers looking to reach Arcade Racer Nirvana. By no means do the cars handle like their real life counterparts, nor do they exaggerate their performance characteristics in order to compete with the arcade racers. Likewise, the tracks contain too many jumps and obstacles to maintain any realism, yet not enough to be enjoyed by the casual racer. On the upside, the graphics are top notch, with accurately modeled cars, a strong 3D engine and enough eye candy to keep the game looking fresh for months to come. In addition, Need For Speed III's multiplayer aspect and the various modes of racing add to the game's otherwise lack luster fun factor (that almost rhymed), making the title amiable to most buyers.
