  • Gigabyte is currently producing motherboards based on Intel's 440BX, i810(e) and i820 chipsets. Gigabyte's wide variety of i810(e) models gives them strength in the volume low-end and value market. As the year moves forward, Gigabyte will be adding i815(e) and i820e based motherboards to their product line.

i815 is essentially an i810 with an AGP slot. i815e adds the ICH2 features into the mix, giving ATA/100, integrated LAN, dual-master USB and improved audio support. Market forces will likely cause Gigabyte's i815(e) boards to quickly replace their 440BX offerings. You should expect i815 motherboards to become the biggest player in the mid-range consumer motherboard market.

Gigabyte has plans for two i815 and two i815e motherboards, a six PCI slot version and a three PCI slot version of each. We are particularly excited about their GA-6OXM7E, and i815e solution with three DIMM slots, AGP Pro 4x, six PCI slots, one CNR slot, a Smart Card Reader and DualBIOS. With a feature list like that combined with Gigabyte's stability and likely low price, you have a sure fire winner.
