  • Fillrate measurements, using '3DMark2000', suggest GeForce2 MX performance to be 2.7 times that of Kyro at 16-bit and at most 1.5 times that of Kyro at 32-bit (figure 1). Kyro's 16-bit and 32-bit fillrates correlate perfectly with the theoretical fillrate of 230 megatexels per second. GeForce2 MX's 16-bit fillrate of 600 megatexels per second approaches its theoretical fillrate, while its 32-bit fillrate is less than half that of the rated 700 megatexels per second.

    Figure 1: '3DMark2000' fillrate, 16- and 32-bit

Paradoxically, the texture intensive 'Mercedes-Benz Truck Racing' (MBTR) demo shows that Kyro outperforms GeForce256 SDR at all resolutions (Figure 2).

Figure 2: Fillrate graph for 'Mercedes-Benz Truck Racing' demo.
Application settings: 24-bit textures, hi-res textures, alpha textures, reflections.
    Kyro settings: scene buffer=2.7 megabytes.
