Goodness doesn't come cheap however and the P2B-LS is no exception. Expect to throw down $300 for this baby, and that's a GOOD price. Since a standard P2B costs about $140, a 100/10 LAN card runs around $50 or so and an Adaptec U2W controller racks up close to $250 worth of cost, you can see how integration reduces prices like mad. We're not proponents of integrated video or sound for most of our gaming/performance orientated audience since those two technologies are changing so rapidly, but for integrated U2W and LAN we have nothing but good recommendations.

  • Excellent value for those seeking high-performance disk access
  • Bullet-proof stability
  • Well written and clear documentation
  • Up to 1GB of main system DRAM support
  • Cost still prohibitive to the mainstream
  • Physical size of board precludes its usage in some cases
The ASUS P2B-LS is another example of ASUStek's continuing drive towards upping the technology/performance bar yet another notch. With 1999 and Intel's 4X AGP chip (camino) approaching, we look forward to the slew of next generation products ASUS will develop for use with Katmai CPUs.
