  • No we won't add any more fuel to the fiery debate that is currently raging "Quake III vs. Unreal Tournament". Instead we'd recommend you buy BOTH of these extremely addictive and fun games. Each has its strengths and weakness but it's nice to see the year of 1999 end with two incredibly strong titles. For those of you that feel strongly about the Q3A vs. UT argument, feel free to drop by this thread and share your thoughts.

For less than five grand (think of it!) you could own the fastest PC on the block, not to mention the coolest… Refrigerated down to -42C, SYS uses KryoTech's SuperG 1GHz Athlon based system. Although upgrading the CPU in this unit is a no no, 1GHz CPUs won't be coming for quite some time (Q4 of 2000) so you won't need to worry too much about being left behind in the dust. For a complete system you're going to be set back around $4500 (ouch!).

Priced at $199.99, suddenly sound might not seem as important as graphics in the grand scheme of things but for that price, you could walk away with the best 'all round' consumer sound set up for the PC in the SBLive! Platinum Edition. Not only is the SBLive and its EAX support extremely strong in the game development community but also for budding musicians that want to dabble with a few tunes, the package comes with some excellent 'beginner' software.
