The Celeron will get a 100MHz FSB in Q2 2001, starting at 800MHz. The extra MHz will be worth some performance, but the boost in FSB speed will make a much more drastic difference. The Celeron will continue as the low-end solution, now that Timna has been canceled.
Timna has been killed. It will not ship and all development on it has been stopped. Timna was to be a CPU with integrated northbridge and graphics. You could think of it as an i810 northbridge with a built in processor. Despite the death of Timna, we still expect Intel to start integrating a northbridge at some point in the future, possibly in the next year or two. Integration brings some cost savings but can also boost performance significantly.
In our most recent roadmap, the 440BX chipset appears to be slated for cancellation by 2001. Of course, there will still be boards available, but there will likely be few or no new ones coming out. Every time Intel has planned to kill the BX chipset, something has stopped them from doing it. Finally, it looks like Intel may get rid of the BX chipset.
